Our Corporate Responsibility strategy is central to our commitment of being a world-class producer of coal
and an expert in the regeneration of land assets.
Our Board regularly reviews policies in this area and to give focus and direction to this work.
Our guiding principles are: to be open and accessible to all our stakeholders; to minimise the environmental impact of our operations; and to establish long-term beneficial after-uses wherever possible.
We understand concerns about the CO2 emissions that result from burning coal so we work with our customers to promote clean coal and carbon capture technologies. We believe however that indigenous coal has an important contribution to make for the foreseeable future both in meeting the UK's energy needs and generating wealth for the country.
