Wind and Energy. We're developing a number of wind farm sites on our land with some 85 turbines in the planning process. Locations for the next phase are being identified and discussions ongoing with potential partners and operators. Over the next few years we see the potential for around 13 wind farms on our landholdings.
-
Bioenergy. A number of SRG landholdings are being proposed for Biomass power generation. As a company we own an extensive timber estate and our intention is to maximise the use of this timber for energy generation as well as traditional uses .A number of our regeneration projects incorporate biomass generation within the proposals and the Group has already successfully obtained permission for a biomass power station on its land in Fife.
Waste to Energy. We are keen to promote Waste to Energy either through investment in technology or locating Waste to Energy processes on our landholdings. A number of our regeneration proposals incorporate the use of residual energy and heat from Waste treatment.
-
Carbon Management. SRG is identifying the principal operational procedures which produce carbon in order to reduce the carbon footprint of the Group as a whole. Substantial investment in new plant and machinery is delivering reducing emissions levels. We are also studying the opportunities which exist for the generation of electricity from Renewable sources on individual operational sites. It is the intention of the group to benchmark its carbon footprint.
-
Other. The Group will seek to release energy from natural resources wherever suitable conditions occur and by utilising existing skills; for instance, our geologists and hydrologists are actually considering the energy potential of streams, rivers and underground water resources in or on our landholding.
