SRG Estates

Achievements and initiatives

SRG Estates recognises the importance of the development plan system in Scotland and has promoted several sites right through the process from initial idea to eventual planning submission.

Two examples are:

Blindwells Development

Blindwells is a strategic land asset of some 400 acres located in the heart of East Lothian, a prime out of town location for Edinburgh commuters. The land was surface mined.

Following a long period of consultation and engagement after tabling the original idea, the site was designated in Autumn 2008 as a new settlement thereby creating a development opportunity for up to several thousand new homes and associated commercial / retail uses. SRG Estates is currently finalising a master plan and outline planning application.

Scottish World Project

The St Ninians surface mine has been an important source of coal and the group has identified a range of development opportunities to be pursued. The centre-point for future development was needed so mine restoration proposals have taken the form of a large piece of landscape architecture designed by Charles Jencks. The Scottish World Project has generated substantial local and national interest.
